AMA Projects were engaged to manage the delivery of the new Bioinformatic and Ecogenomic laboratories at the Australian National University.

Works included:

  • specialised services, fume cupboards, fume hoods and exhausts
  • laboratory joinery, and associated fitout works.
  • designed to P2 specification which required careful planning, design and execution of these rooms to ensure positive pressure was maintained at all times and certification was achieved.
  • extensive asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation works.

As the building remained occupied by staff during the construction period, careful attention was paid to safety, with noisy works and power shutdowns performed after hours to minimse impact on tenant operations. The original structural design required the existing roof to be removed for the slab installation. AMA Projects proposed an alternative method to avoid removing the roof and in doing so, saved substantial costs.
