AMA Projects were engaged to construct a new paleomagnetic laboratory building for the Australian National University at their Black Mountain site. Due to the sensitive nature of the experiments conducted within the building, no ferrous materials were able to be used in the construction.

To combat this, the building was constructed using timber, aluminium roof sheeting, and stainless steel. Stainless Steel reinforcements were used in the slab and block walls, roofing was completed with specialty aluminium roof and gutter material and trusses were specially constructed with stainless steel gang nails and fixings.

AMA Projects worked closely with the ANU and the end user to understand the brief before approaching subcontractors and suppliers across Australia to procure the required materials. The project was a success with all works completed within the nominated timeframe and budget.
