The AEC on Level 3, 10 Mort Street underwent reconfiguration works to accommodate centralised Command Centre operations. The building was fully occupied while the works work taking place so a separate hoarding was installed to separate AEC working space and the construction site to allow the works to progress on time.

A key consideration for the works was acoustic treatments, which were designed to combat the noise coming through the air intake near a local restaurant/nightclub. This was achieved by separation of areas, extensive acoustic wall panelling, acoustic ceiling treatments and acoustic glazing. The floor was occupied for the duration of works, with acoustic slab to slab hoarding installed to ensure dust from the demolition and construction noise did not transfer to the other parts of the floor.

The Works also included considerable service upgrades for audio visual, electrical/communications and mechanical. This allows the AEC to have a fully functional, state of the art, command centre for any type of event, including elections. The acoustic rated rooms and multiple media hubs allow the command centre to separate and operate in several different zones or modes. All areas can operate as one if required.
