ANU Siding Spring Observatory

Australian National University Coonabarabran, NSW

AMA Projects were engaged as Managing Contractor by the Australian National University to deliver a reconstruction of Lodge accommodation building for the ANU at Siding Spring Observatory following the loss of the original building in the 2013 Bushfires.

The 18 Bedroom lodge incorporates a communal lounge, dining hall and library along with a state of the art seminar room to accommodate visitors to the facility. The AMA Projects Team worked tirelessly against the elements in a remote location to successfully construct this unique building.

AMA Projects managed the design with the ANU, which incorporated Bush fire prevention and a keen focus on design solutions for the prevention of noise pollution and night time light pollution. Separation or isolation of certain areas to allow for night time and day time observatory operations to occur without affecting the other was also a priority.
