AMA Projects were engaged to complete a refurbishment of HMAS Penguin’s Building 8 Health SIM rooms.

The works included:

  • removing previously tiled walls, joinery and basins and hospital service outlets to transform existing spaces into offices
  • repainting walls and the ceiling
  • supplying and installing new vinyl and carpet flooring.

The project was sponsor funded which meant the users were funding the project and did not budget for variations. AMA Projects was able to work with the client to ensure they received a final finish and product that was suitable for their usage and to ensure the budget was not exceeded.

Initial investigation uncovered that some walls that were nominated to be demolished during tender were existing services riser walls that could not be removed. The client expressed an interest to enclose another space which had existing doorways into a proposed new office space. AMA were able to complete these work in lieu which assisted with completing the programme before the project due date.
