AMA Projects was engaged by DFAT to provide a month of Project Management Services inside Australia that included assisting in the Engagement of the Head Works Contractor and relevant Sub-contractors. Following that, AMA Projects was engaged by DFAT to provide 4 months Project Management Services in Tokyo that included on-site management and coordination of the Head Works Contractor and all Sub-Contractors to complete a secure office fit-out taking place over two stages.

  • Stage 1 required replacement of all M+E services, construction of new walls and partitions, as well as a general office fitout including meeting rooms, breakout spaces and a kitchenette.
  • Stage 2 was a considered a ‘light touch refurbishment’ and required the demolition of walls and construction of new walls, a fresh coat of paint throughout as well as a general refresh of joinery and furniture and workstations. New services to the existing building was also required during stage 2 and there was a heavy electrical, mechanical and comms scope to the project.

During the project an understanding of the cultural differences in design and construction management expectations was required and through careful planning and stakeholder collaboration, the project was managed and delivered successfully as required by the client to an Australian construction standard.
