AMA Projects were engaged to construct an extension to the University of Canberra Health Hub, providing a new lift and public access stairwell for the building.
The existing building lift for Building 28 was found to be unsuitable to meet the demands of a busy medical centre. The works involved the extension of the central foyer on all four floors, and construction of a new lift shaft and stairwell. The architectural pre-cast concrete panels were finished in off-white and black, to provide contrast with the feature copper wall, Colourbond cladding and glazed facade.
The interior features the stairwell finished with spotted gum timber treads and vertical balustrades. A children’s play area, extended waiting areas and a meeting room were also provided within the new building annex.
