AMA Projects were engaged as Managing Contractor for the construction of the ANU Lobby Bar. The bar was constructed in an existing building and needed to look like it always belonged to the space.

The project involved:

  • installing all new bar equipment such as beer systems and lines, stainless steel benching, sinks and plumbing, POS systems and stone benchtops
  • back of house works consisting of a new keg room and glass washing facilities
  • running the new bar services under the existing concrete slab, which was completed using core holes through the slab to the locations in the new bar.

No penetrations were allowed to be made through the marble walls which line the back of the Lobby Bar which is why multiple core holes were used for new services and beer lines. There was also a number of existing services running through the concrete slab which were identified and made it complicated to place all services in the correct positions so careful planning was required.
