Managing Contractor
AMA Projects was engaged for a refurbishment and fit-out project across multiple floors of the AFP Gold Coast Airport Command.
The project involved the demolition of an existing fitout, constructing secure areas, and upgrading existing operational spaces to meet strict requirements. Additional key upgrades included enhancing the electronic security system, installing considerable acoustic treatments, integrating new audiovisual capabilities, and refurbishing components of the gym.
To ensure a smooth construction process, AMA Projects collaborated closely with the design team and key consultants, including the SCEC consultant and acoustic engineer. This partnership was crucial in troubleshooting buildability issues and ensuring compliance with security and acoustic requirements. For example, the team identified a shortfall in structured cabling and proactively worked with the design team and communications contractor to manage the change in scope without impacting the project timeline.
The refurbishment was completed while the facility remained fully operational. AMA Projects minimised disruptions by implementing effective communication strategies and thorough project planning, setting clear stakeholder expectations, and addressing potential challenges.
