AMA Projects were engaged to complete base building works at the Russell R8 complex.

The works involved:

  • replacing the existing dry fire detection system with a new system (over 300 detectors)
  • replacing existing external window blinds with new blockout and sheer blinds (over 1,000 blinds)
  • installation of bunding to avoid stormwater contamination.

The works were undertaken primarily after hours and a number of occupied spaces required escorted access.

The consulting engineers were not given adequate opportunity to walk through the entire building before the project tender. This resulted in AMA Projects managing the early design effort to generate ‘for approval’ documentation for client approval.

Clear and cooperative communication between AMA Projects and the client ensured that final ‘for installation’ documentation was created in a timely manner with a ‘no surprises’ approach to construction.
