The integration of AusAID into the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade required relocation of offices from around Canberra in order to consolidate more functions to within close proximity of the Departments primary building in Barton.
The Walter Turnbull Building Fitout was also used as a pilot to trial revised workplace design practices to create a workplace that is vibrant functional, efficient and attractive to the end user. Relocations were locked in for the end of 2014 which required the Fitout to be completed in only 9 weeks. AMA Projects scheduled works so that separate night and day work crews could be utilised to accelerate the programme so that the extremely condensed construction timeframe could be met. The deadline was achieved and in addition all defects were closed out prior to the occupation of the offices.
